Since starting in 2021, Fyffes Fittest School has been at the forefront of promoting health and fitness among school children across Ireland.
This innovative and award-winning programme combines fun, energy, and education to encourage kids to lead active and healthy lives. With over 100,000 participants to date, Fyffes Fittest School delivers easy-to-do exercises, practical nutrition advice, and engaging fitness activities.
This January, Fyffes Ireland’s Fittest School is back! Led by Irish health and fitness expert Sharon Flanagan and Olympian David Gillick, Fyffes are on the hunt to find Ireland’s Fittest School and want your school to get involved. And the best bit, it is completely FREE of charge!
There will be some great prizes to be won throughout the 10-week programme, running from Jan 20th to April 4th, 2025, which creates a vibrant environment where children can build lasting habits for their well-being, all under the guidance of their teachers.
The top 4 schools from each province will compete in regional qualifiers for a place in the grand final where there will be a prize package of €8,000 worth of sports equipment to be won, along with the crown of Ireland’s Fittest School.
Following their participation in a three-month competition, in which hundreds of schools from all over Ireland took part, St. Mary’s Touraneena National School went on to win the live ‘grand final’ in which the top four schools in this year’s competition featured.
The grand finale, which took place in Dublin on Friday, May 24th, was hosted by three of Ireland’s best-known athletes – World Para Rowing champion, Katie O’Brien and Olympians, sprinters Phil Healy and David Gillick – and saw the four schools contest for a prize package which included €8,000 worth of sports equipment.
